The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the instrument cluster turned off inadvertently. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the instrument cluster later turned on but then turned off again erroneously. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times that day. The vehicle was taken to a local Pep Boys where the driver's side wheel speed sensor was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. Additionally, the check engine, ABS, and the electronic stability control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to a local Pep Boys where it was diagnosed that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to an unknown dealer for assistance. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they only performed recall repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 194,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER IN DALLAS, TEXAS WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER TWO WEEKS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER LATER WENT OUT OF BUSINESS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,000.

I BOUGHT MY 07 SUZUKI GRAND VITARA IN 2008. SINCE I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ABOUT EVERY 3-4 MONTHS. THE LIGHTS EVEN AFTER BEING REPLACED WILL FLICKER AND TURN OFF. I HAVE TO OPEN THE HOOD AND WIGGLE THE LIGHT TO COME BACK ON. THE CONNECTORS ON THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE BECOME OVERHEATED AND MEALTED. ONCE WHILE DRIVING I SMELLED SMOKE, AFTER OPENING THE HOOD I REALIZED IT WAS THE HEADLIGHT. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE MY HEADLIGHT(S) HAVE TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE HIGH BEAMS. ALSO THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS ARE SO DIM I CAN BARELY SEE A YARD INFRONT OF MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THESE ARE ALL SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARDS AND EVEN LIFE THREATENING IF THE HEADLIGHTS WERE TO CATCH FIRE.

THE HEAD LIGHTS KEEP BLOWING OUT, ESPECIALLY THE LEFT FRONT. I FIND MYSELF CHANGING THIS BULB EVERY 3-5 MONTHS. NOW THE HIGH BEAMS DO NOT TURN ON FROM THE FORWARD POSITION AT THE STEERING WHEEL, THEY WILL WORK WHEN THE ARM IS PULLED BACK WITH THE HIGH BEAM LIGHT INDICATING THEY ARE WORKING, NOT THE SAME IN THE FORWARD POSITION. I HAVE CHECKED THE FUSES AND BULB. I AM TIRED OF THESE PROBLEMS AND IT IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD. SUZUKI SHOULD GET ON BOARD TO FIX THESE REOCCURRING PROBLEMS FOR EVERY OWNER. BUT SINCE SUZUKI NO LONGER EXISTS IN THE UNITED STATES, IT WILL BE UP TO NHTSA.

12/31/15 -- OUTSIDE TEMP APPROX 8 DEG F, VEHICLE DEFROSTER FAILED TO ACTUATE, WINDSHIELD FROZE OVER INTERNALLY WORSE & WORSE, FINALLY RESORTED TO USE ICE SCRAPER ON INSIDE OF WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVER CONTINUED ON STATE HWY. HEATED AIR WAS COMING OUT DASH VENTS, FLOOR, BUT NOT A WHIFF FROM DEFROSTER. WAS ON THE WAY TO A HOSPITAL, KEPT DRIVING TIL ABOUT 12 MILES ALONG SUDDENLY DEFROSTER VENTS ACTUATED, BLOWING HEATED AIR LIKE CRAZY. BUT HAD I NOT BEEN ALONG, SPOUSE WOULD HAVE BEEN HARD-PRESSED TO SAFELY PULL OFF OR GET TO SURGERY APPOINTMENT. SINCE HEAT WAS BLOWING OUT OF OTHER VENTS, INDICATES ACTUATOR FAULT. I HAVE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY VEHICLE. THE SUZUKI DEALERSHIP (FACILITY) IN MY TOWN HAS BEEN CLOSED. THE RECALL SCHEDULING CONTACT (TWICE) HAS REFERED ME TO AN OUT OF TOWN (TOYOTA) DEALERSHIP IN NAPLES, FLORIDA. OF COURSE, SUZUKI IN NO LONGER SOLD IN THE US. THE DRIVE DISTANCE WOULD PREVENT ME FROM LEAVING MY VEHICLE WITHOUT UNNECESSARY ADDED TIME AND INCONVENIENCE. I REQUESTED A LOCAL MORE CONVENIENT DEALERSHIP TO DO THE REPAIR, BUT HAVE BEEN REFUSED. WHAT IS THE POLICY ON RECALLS FOR THIS SITUATION? I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE IN A FORT MYERS DEALER.

VEHICLE SITTING IN DRIVE. STARTED VEHICLE PUT IN REVERSE AND BACKED OUT OF DRIVE. PUT VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND IT WENT DEAD BUT WAS ROLLING...NO CONTROL,POWER STEERING OUT NO BRAKES.. LET VEHICLE ROLL TO END OF STREET AND PRESSED HARDER ON BRAKES AND IT STOPPED. PUT VEHICLE IN PARK..TURNED OFF SWITCH...ATTEMPTED TO START AGAIN AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AGAIN. TURNED THE AIR OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND PUT IN DRIVE AND IT RAN BUT THE GAS PEDAL WAS MORE SENSITIVE THAN USUAL GOT TO THE HOUSE AND PUT IN PARK AND PUT ON E-BRAKE. WAITED FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS AND STARTED THE ENGINE AND TRIED TO RELEASE PARKING BRAKE BUT IT WOULD NOT RELEASE. TURNED THE AIR ON WITH CAR RUNNING AND IT DIED AGAIN WITHOUT SHIFTING INTO DRIVE. RESTARTED THE CAR AND PUT IN REVERSE TO SEE IF IT WOULD DIE AGAIN AND THE CAR TRIED TO DIE SO I PUT IN PARK AND CUT THE ENGINE OFF AND PARKING BRAKE WOULD STILL NOT RELEASE. *TR

I HAVE REPLACED THE HEADLAMP BULBS 17 TIMES ON THE VEHICLE MENTIONED ABOVE THE EACH TIME THEY WOULD STOP WORKING. FOUND OUT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BULBS THERE IS AN ABNORMAL OPERATION OF THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS AND THE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS. THEY FLICKERED CONSTANTLY AND STOPPED WORKING ONE NIGHT AS MY SON WAS DRIVING HOME FROM COLLEGE. HE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED!!! WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES AND EACH MECHANIC STATED THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE HAVE POSTED THE SAME COMPLAINT ON THE INTERNET AND I THINK THERE SHOULD AN IMMEDIATE RECALL. WE CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE LIGHTS CONTINUE TO STOP BEAMING RANDOMLY. LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT BULBS (H7) FAIL EVERY OTHER MONTH. I'VE SPENT ABOUT 150-200 US DOLLARS EVERY YEAR ON HEADLIGHT BULBS SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN 2007. WIRING HARNESS FOR H7 BULB SHOW SIGNS OF EXCESSIVE HEAT (MELTING AND BURN MARKS) ON PLASTIC AND METAL PARTS. I'VE ALWAYS USED NITRILE GLOVES, PAPER TOWELS, AND BULB GREASE (DI-ELECTRIC) TO INSTALL BULBS AND WIRING HARNESS. DESPITE ALL THE PRECAUTIONS WORKING WITH THESE BULBS THEY ALWAYS FAIL WITHIN 3 OR 4 MONTHS. THE CONCERN IS SAFETY AND PREVENTING AN ACCIDENT DUE TO DEFECTIVE PARTS.
